While Tennessee judges will consider a number of factors when deciding whether or not to award alimony, the two most important factors the court will consider are (1) the economically disadvantaged spouse’s financial need and (2) the obligor/payor spouse’s financial ability to pay the other spouse. When considering these two factors, the most important is the disadvantaged spouse’s need.
